Its a quote from a BBC article. Alix Popham: Ex-Wales flanker on early onset dementia diagnosis
“Popham describes the effects of concussions and sub-concussions on his brain as a leaking tap. “If it drips once or twice there will be no mark on the floor, but if it dripped for 14 years, there would be a big hole,” he says. “That is the damage that is showing on the scans.”
I talk so often about the drip drip drip problem when investing. Each day, each week, each year, so often there can be nothing to alert to a problem. But if the drip drip drip moves into years, and tens of years, you get a problem, if not, a catastrophe.
It is up to investors to invest in reliable independent analysis to ensure you are on track. After reviewing matters thoroughly, there is no reason why you can’t do the analysis yourself. When talking to people, I hear them say, yes I already do that? What they mean, by and large, is they think they are doing it. That does not solve the problem. If you ask your investment management to verify if you will be OK; do you think they will tell you they have failed and you should take your money elsewhere? It’s easier if they say, ‘you’ll be OK’. If investors were forced to have an independent MOT so to speak, most would take action.
It is why it’s important to take back control over your money. That means you’ll be able to ask better questions and to ensure those you employ are acting in your interests, not just theirs.
