More institutions are trying to broaden the scope of how they sell their products and services, but also increase the depth.
Legal and General have put together a course about retirement planning in conjunction with The Open University. I can see other institutions using their financial muscle power to develop these types of ideas. All of which should help awareness of financial issues.
It would make sense for anyone thinking of retirement to gather as much information as possible. Read books and articles. Take course such as the Legal and General course via the Open University.
Yes, there is a but….
We all know when institutions are providing these courses and educational tools the objective is to sell their products. They are not putting together courses just because they are ‘nice’ people (which I am sure they are) and altruistic. Which means you need someone to talk to. As you develop your knowledge, if you can communicate your thoughts to someone else, it gives your understanding clarity. If you talk to wealth managers, they have a conflict of interest. Often advisers just want to manage your retirement capital.
It makes much more sense to talk to someone who is not motivated to manage your money. This is what we do. Want a conversation?
